Im letzten Post konntet ihr lesen und sehen wie wir das Gestell für die Rahmen aufgebaut haben.
An diesem Gestell werden nun die einzelnen Rahmen befestigt.

In the last post you could read and see how we built the frame for the frames.
The individual frames are now attached to this frame.
Angefangen haben wir mit dem Transom und uns dann immer weiter vor bis zum Bug gearbeitet.
Ausgerichtet haben wir alles mit unserem Kreuzlinienlaser. Als Fixpunkte haben wir jeweils die Mitte der Rahmen und die Wasserlinie genommen.
Eigentlich dachten wir, dass das Ausrichten relativ schnell und einfach klappt aber leider war das nicht so. Oft mussten wir dir Rahmen doch wieder um 1 – 2 mm verschieben, neu ausrichten und nochmal verschieben.

We started with the transom and then worked our way up to the bow.
We aligned everything with our cross line laser. We used the center of the frames and the waterline as fixed points.
We actually thought that the alignment would be relatively quick and easy, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. We often had to move the frames by 1 – 2 mm, realign them and move them again.
Nachdem dann alle Rahmen hingen, befestigten wir noch die Cockpitsides und Bunksides an den jeweiligen Frames.
Danach ging es wieder ans messen, messen, messen,…
Nachdem wir uns auch dieses mal sicher waren, dass alles passt fingen wir an die Bunksides zu verkleben.

Once all the frames were in place, we attached the cockpit sides and bunksides to the respective frames.
Then it was back to measuring, measuring, measuring,…
Once we were sure that everything would fit, we started gluing the bunksides.
Leider fiel uns erst danach auf, dass das Gestell nicht den angegebenen Maße im Plan entsprach und somit auch die Höhen der jeweiligen Rahmen nicht wirklich passten.
Also versuchten wir so gut es geht das Harz mit einem Heißluftföhn zu entfernen und anschließend die Reste noch abzuschleifen. Dies funktionierte eigentlich ganz gut.
Die kleine Stellen haben wir mit Glasfaserschnitzel und Epoxy ausgebessert. Da unsere Bunksides 10 mm (statt den geforderten 8 mm) haben sehen wir darin kein Problem.
Dann richteten wir die Rahmen nochmal neu aus und wieder ging es ans messen, messen, messen,…
Diesesmal passte dann aber wirklich alles und die Bunksides konnten neu verklebt werden.

Unfortunately, it was only afterwards that we realized that the frame did not correspond to the dimensions given in the plan and therefore the heights of the respective frames did not really fit.
So we tried to remove the resin as best we could with a hot air dryer and then sanded off the remains. This actually worked quite well.
We have repaired the small areas with fiberglass chips. As our bunksides are 10 mm (instead of the required 8 mm), we don’t see this as a problem.
Then we realigned the frames again and it was back to measuring, measuring, measuring,…
This time, however, everything really did fit and the bunksides could be re-glued.
Nun ging es an die Bodenwrangen, Steven und das Zusammenkleben der Stinger.
Als nächstes werden wir das komplette Gestell mit den Rahmen noch einmal komplett durchmessen und dann die Stringer an die Rahmen kleben.

Now it was time for the floor cradles, stem and gluing the stingers together.
Next, we’ll measure the entire frame once again and then glue the stringers to the frames.
